I had to look on Google Maps to see the actual name of this road. Like most people around here, it’s known to me as “that road that goes behind Wal-Mart.” It’s highly useful for getting from the north end of town near Walgreens, to the Wendys section a lot quicker than going through all the lights in town. (And on another note, you know you live in the not-exactly-huge city of Boone when EVERY set of directions you give makes reference to “the two-story Wendy’s light.” At least it’s a good landmark!)
One end of Meadowview connects to Hwy 321 right beside Walgreen’s. It runs up behind the Wal-Mart shopping center, connects to the Meadowview Apartment complex, and comes to a four-way intersection where it crosses Greenway Road and Leola Street (Leola becomes Greenway as it goes west.) Turn right onto Leola and you’ll come to Wal-Mart. Go straight through the light, staying on Meadowview, and you’ll come out onto Highway 321 across from Piedmont Federal bank. Turn left onto Greenway and take it past the TT Electronics factory and Greenway Baptist Church and around the curve, where the road name will change without notice to Winkler’s Creek Road. At the next stop light, you can turn left onto Wilson Drive and get onto Highway 105, stay straight on Winkler’s Creek to get to Highway 321 next to Bojangle’s, or turn right into the Mall.
Here’s a screenshot of the route, in case I’ve thoroughly confused you. The red route is Hwy 321 to Hwy 105 via Meadowview, Greenway, Winkler’s Creek, and Wilson Drives. The blue bit is the part that puts you out by Bojangle’s. The green bit is where you turn right to go to Wal-Mart. And the brown bit is where you stay straight to come out on Hwy 321 across from the bank.
Word to the wise, though: Watch your speed on Meadowview Drive and Greenway Road. They’re both notorious speed traps- 25mph on Meadowview and 20mph on Greenway. Also, these roads are part of an Appalcart bus route, so if you happen to get behind the bus, just be patient and don’t illegally pass.
